The most common answer we hear is “about as painful as getting a tattoo.” Most patients report some level of minimal to moderate pain during laser tattoo removal. Depending on the patient, the discomfort is often quite mild, especially given new technologies available for easing the pain.
The aftercare for tattoo removal is similar to what the care recommended after receiving a tattoo, or any other similar superficial skin damage. Your tattoo removal specialist should give you an ointment to apply to the skin, as well as dressing for the area. In the days following, it is recommended that patients keep the area of skin out of the sun as much as possible, and to keep it clean and covered. Patients should try to leave the skin alone as much as possible. A shower or bath is acceptable the day after treatment, but avoid scrubbing the skin.
At Mirabile M.D. Tattoo Removal, we only use the best laser available today – enlighten™. enlighten features extremely short and high-power picosecond laser pulses which efficiently and quickly breaks down the ink particles in tattoos. A picosecond is one-trillionth of a second and is 1,000 times shorter than nanosecond pulses used in existing lasers for tattoo removal. Picosecond laser pulses have been shown to remove tattoos more completely and in fewer treatment sessions than traditional laser used historically in the past.
The great majority of tattoos, whether professionally done or homemade, respond to laser treatments at Mirabile M.D. Tattoo Removal.  Some pigments, especially green, orange and yellow are more difficult to remove than others, but even these touchy pigments typically respond given enough treatments. Part of what separates Mirabile M.D. Tattoo Removal from other laser tattoo removal clinics is our ability to remove a full spectrum of colors. Many other clinics are restricted by older technology which only allows them to remove certain hues.
At Mirabile M.D. Tattoo Removal we understand that tattoo removal can be a daunting process. We offer free consultations to allow you time to learn about our process, ask any questions you might have, and become fully comfortable with the removal treatment before beginning. If you can provide us with your health history, type of tattoo, and age of tattoo, our  Licensed Esthetician will explain your options for tattoo removal and answer any questions you may have including providing a price for your treatment.
